Choosing wood that works together
Cherry, maple, walnut or paint: seeing the options in the room makes the decision easier.
Picking the wood is a design decision. It needs to feel right with the floor, the walls, the light and the rest of the room.
For this kitchen, I explored cherry cabinets with cherry, maple and walnut shelves. The lighter maple brings more contrast. The walnut makes the shelves darker and more distinct. Keeping everything cherry feels more continuous. I also looked at warm gray cabinets with cherry shelves to see how paint and natural wood could work together.
I make photorealistic concept images so we can look at those choices in context. It's easier to talk through what you like when you can see a few directions side by side.
The renderings help narrow things down. Real wood and finish samples are still part of choosing the final combination.
Layout, wood, finish and all the smaller details are part of the design work I do before I build your cabinetry. These images are concept studies.
